Parenting isn’t about raising a child;it’s about raising a parent

“Conscious parenting” centers on how to disciple one’s self and to be true to their selves. If a parent wants to be a good role model to their children, they must first learn to handle their own immaturity. By doing this, the child may follow the good influence of their parents that will help them follow their goals in life.

The author Amy Chua has strategies in teaching the proper ways of raising children which strengthens in the willingness of the parents to take care a child. It is a “one-size-fits-all” style that doesn’t help the child to create their own self and various needs.

The purpose is to uplift children on how to keep in touch with mental and spiritual self rather than making them the kind of person their parents wants them to be. When children choose to stay true to themselves, they are living life with contentment and happiness in whatever decision they make.

The parents are expected to do the overall responsibility as the child grows. However, as the child grows, parents need to learn from the child, too. Parents should be able to open up their ideas to the child and listen to their opinions. To have self-control, to be authoritative and self-ruing is a continuous process. It’s letting the child to accept consequences in a most reasonable way.

The way parents communicate and raise their children mirrors on how they treat themselves. When a child got a failing grade from school, some parents criticize the child’s performance. This reaction appears from the parent’s past experience when they were told that class standing described who they are.

Staying away from controlling the child’s activity may give the parents a realization that the child doesn’t deserve the criticism.
