Save Cats and Dogs in South Korea from Brutal Deaths

Two million cats and dogs are being caught by slaughters and sold in public markets for people consumption. Dogs and cats experience an extremely wicked or cruel act, typically one involving physical violence or injury like dogs which are killed by electric shock, choked and cats which are beat repeatedly and burned alive. Even though few minority South Koreans consumes the meat of cats and dogs, the industry develop well because of the perpetuation of lies and the lack of interest and concern of government.

Many South Koreans believe that cats and dogs are the kind of animals with whom they could spend a lot of time or when travelling. In 1991, South Korea’s Animal Protection Law was implemented which recognizes them as “domestic pets.” With reference to past events, South Koreans have only consumed dogs during the times of extreme poverty, yet even before they were still considered as companion animals. However, few people still believed the folk tale that cat and dog meat have healing properties.

It is rated that there are about six thousand five hundred institutions in South Korea that market cats and dogs. Unauthorized and diseases-ridden dog farms exist all around rural areas of the country, where dogs are being kept and sold to slaughters. The officers of South Korea should make an effort to implement animal protection laws in order to rescue poor cats and dogs from hideous deaths.
